Isaac Damage Marco Island

Well, for all of you out there wondering how your property on Marco Island fared in the recent tropical storm, it did very well.  In fact,  the storm was anticlimactic.  With every update, the projected track of the storm was moved farther and farther from Marco.  Ultimately, we didn't even get much of a show.

As the storm made landfall in Cuba, the projected path took its center just a few miles off Marco Island.  Forecasters thought it'd be a hurricane when it got here.  People were scampering around preparing for the worst.  Plywood and generators were flying off the shelves.  Tourists were heading home.  Storm shutters were in place.  Then...nothing.

We've had heavier rain this summer already with our usual thunderstorms.  The wind we

Fun Things To Do Marco IslandOne of the greatest things about living anywhere in Florida is the rest of Florida.  You can drive to the best of what the state offers in just a few hours or less.  As long as your passion isn't snow skiing, you have it in Florida.  World-class cities with all the accoutrements, incredible adventures, wildlife encounters - it's all here in Florida.

If you want a break from the relaxed and cozy vibe that Marco Island is famous for, just drive two hours east and you're in one of the World's most dynamic cites.  Miami has everything.  It is probably the antithesis of Marco Island in every way.  It's intense. There are several options for dining on Marco Island if you're looking for beautiful views of the bays and Gulf.  I will cover a small part of the west side of the island in this blog.  Your choices begin with the shopping and dining destination known as The Esplanade Shoppes.  There are 3 restaurants to choose from located on beautiful Smokehouse Bay.  The first is CJ's on the Bay.  Featuring a large outdoor gazebo bar with nightly happy hour specials, it also includes outdoor tableside seating and a beautiful indoor restaurant as well.  Live entertainment is also presented Thursdays-Saturdays and their food is spectacular.  Chef Laura offers pasta and seafood entrees as well as burgers, pizza and a wide variety of salads.  Next door is Tara Steak

If you spend any amount of time on Marco Island, you most likely have visited Tigertail Beach.  Free to locals and only $8/car to visitors, it's located on the northwest side of the island and the perfect place for bird and other animal watching.  In fact, it's actually listed as a birding site by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.  You may see Osprey, Bald Eagles, Roseate Spoonbills, Pelicans and more.  People have also been known to spot Stingrays and Horseshoe Crabs.  It has a great rustic feel with a small inlet that leads out to the Gulf.  After a short trip across the tidal lagoon, you'll reach Sand Dollar Island, a barrier island in the making.

Tigertail Beach also has a snack bar at the entrance that serves breakfast and

Marco Island Condo ImageMoving to a new town or buying an investment property is always a tough decision.  Do you go with your heart and take the plunge or take the "safer" more comfortable option of staying where you are?  If you're like most people on Marco Island, the only option is to take the plunge.  It seems like everyone you meet has come to town to fulfill some kind of dream.  They're here from all over: Boston, Chicago, New York, and even Canada.  Most of them came to town to visit one day and decided they had to find a way to come back permanently or at least, come back for 6 months out of the year.  The area is just so compelling!  It truly feels like you're living in paradise.

There is also so much to do on Marco Island.  You would think because it's a small
