Goodland, Florida Real Estate

Goodland takes the cake for "most intersting place" in southwest Florida. There really is nothing like this ecclectic little village just east of Marco Island on San Marco Road. If you own real estate in Goodland, you have something special. Goodland is tiny and grabbing that perfect little piece of it can be competitive.

Goodland has been called "the drinking village with a fishing problem." When you arrive in Goodland, you're greeted by two famous bars - Stan's Idle Hour and Little Bar. Stan's is the place to go for a cold one and a burger in the sunshine of Florida. They always seem to have some quality live entertainment on stage outside and the Sunday parties are notorious for good times. Of course, Stan's is a great place to take your Harley but non-bikers are more than comfortable in its fun atmosphere. If sitting outside by the water listening to music with a beer and barbeque sounds good to you, give Stan's a try.

Litle Bar's website states a theory that has been proven all over the world. "The Ends of the Earth Good Times Theory" goes like this: When you've gone as far as you can go on land, you are where you are likely to find the best food, friendliest people and greatest entertainment." The site goes on to explain that "The theory has held true for such destinations as Key West, Cape Cod and even the Paps of Banbha in Northern Ireland. Little Bar Restaurant, perched on the waterfront's edge in Goodland, Florida proves the theory, in spades, once again." I would concur. Open 7 days a week, Little Bar is open until at least midnight or until everyone is through singing.

With all the tallk of partying, I almost forgot about the other main attraction in Goodland - FISHING Pretty much, all the real estate in Goodland is water direct and has quick access to the Gulf of Mexico and the Ten Thousand Islands, both great fishing destinations.

All things considered, if you enjoy fishing or drinking or both, Goodland is a great place to call home. Even if you don't like either of those activities, Goodland is still the most interesting place around.

Marco Beach Unit 13 - The Estates

Is thirteen really an unlucky number? Not when it comes to real estate on Marco Island. Thirteen may be the luckiest number.

Back when Marco was being developed, they divided the island into sections called units and we still use this system to refer to various areas of the island. When you arrive on Marco Island, you're in Unit 1. Tigertail is Unit 12. The South End is Unit 10. You get the picture.

Well, Unit 13 is the granddaddy of them all. It's the Estates. The real estate in the Estates is the most valuable on the island. The stunning mansions are absolutely world-class and on par with anything you'd find in Port Royal over in Naples. The architecture of some of these homes is nothing short of amazing. The attention to detail unsurpassed.

What really sets Unit 13 apart from the others are the views. Many of the homesites overlook the Gulf of Mexico and a few of The Ten Thousand Islands of which Marco Island is the largest. Others face Barfield Bay, Robert's Bay or Fredrick's Bay.

The wildlife is everywhere on this side of the island. You are virtually guaranteed to see a dolphin or two cruise by while you watch pelicans dive for their breakfast. You'll occaisionally see an osprey zoom by holding a fish in its talons. You might even get a glimpse of a manatee bobbing for air from your poolside perch.

So, what's it cost to aquire a piece of heaven. Well, it's a lot less than it was five years ago. Inland houses start at around $600,000 and top-out at around $1.9MM. Waterfront homes start at about $1.2MM and max out at $9.8MM. Inland lots are priced between $239,000 to $865,000 and Water-Direct lots are priced from $799,000 all the way up to $7.45 million. There are no condos in Unit 13.

If this sounds interesting and you'd like a little more information, feel free to contact us. We love selling homes in lucky Unit 13.
